Rail Car Secondary Containment System & Soils Excavation

Detroit, Michigan ~

Elite provided secondary containment design/build services to replace existing equipment that was damaged from a train car derailment incident.  Elite responded by providing turn key services to replace the existing equipment.  A total of 450 feet of train rail and associated secondary containment structure were removed providing access to impacted soil.  A total of 3,600 cubic yards of impacted soils were then excavated and backfilled with clean select fill that was compacted in accordance with project specifications.

The construction phase of the project addressed the installation of new track that was incorporated into a new concrete secondary containment structure and drainage system.  The design and attention to detail far exceeded the client’s expectations and was used as a model for similar facilities across the country. Elite was able to finish the project within the time allotment and the allocated budget making the project a complete success.
