Tank Cleaning/Demolition and Storm Water Management Inspection

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ~

Elite was selected to provide tank demolition and storm water inspection and cleaning services which involved twelve 220,000 gallon above ground storage tanks and associated piping.  Elite’s extensive construction experience in a refinery setting was critical to the successful management and disposal of the asbestos insulation material that covered two of the tanks.  As part of the tank closure requirements Elite excavated test pits beneath the tanks to collect soil samples that were analyzed and used to document existing site conditions and determine the need for remedial measures.

The scope of work also included a detailed inspection and cleaning of the storm water management infrastructure.  For this task, Elite used remotely operated mobile cameras to access and identify faulty or clogged piping.  This phase of the project required expertise in confined space entry which included compliance with OHSA and client health and safety protocols.  Elite’s response to client requests, attention to detail, timely completion, and adherence to budgetary constrains made this project a success.
